Master of Arts in Education (Social Studies)
The MA in Education (Social Studies) program is likewise designed to improve the teaching competencies of educators teaching Sibika at Kultura and Hekasi in the elementary schools and social studies in the secondary schools, division supervisors and curriculum developers in social studies. The program is laddered on to the Diploma program.Objectives
The program aims to:- Equip students with the knowledge and skills that are requisites to the effective teaching of social studies; and
- Enable students to undertake and use research in social studies education to improve instruction and policy formulation.
Mode of Instruction
All courses are offered by DE mode.Admission Requirements
Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Education (BSE or BSEED) from a recognized institution. Those without a degree are advised to apply for admission to the DSSE program.All applicants are admitted provisionally until completion of 9 units with a general weighted average of 2.0 or better.
The Curriculum
The Master's program has a total of 42 units, including 21 units of course work from the Diploma program. Of the remaining 21 units, 15 units consist of course work and 6 units thesis, as follows:
