The FMDS Student Orientation was held with the help of the FMDS Research Assistants headed by (seated, L-R) Asst. Prof. Rita Ramos, Faculty Secretary, and Ms. Jeniffer de Pasion-Guevarra, Student Support Staff.

The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) conducted its 4th Student Orientation via Facebook Live on 20 January 2018 for the Second Semester AY 2017-2018.

Hosted by Asst. Prof. Rita C. Ramos, Secretary to the Faculty and Ms. Jeniffer F. De Pasion-Guevarra, Student Support Staff, and assisted by the FMDS Research Assistants, the online student orientation via Facebook Live is a venue for new and continuing students to raise inquiries and clarify information which they may have on university and program policies. New students have been provided with online information materials prior to the live student orientation.

The Student Orientation via Facebook Live is divided into two parts: the General Forum on Administrative and Academic Policies and Process and the Program Orientation. For this semester, Ms. Erlinda M. Manarin of UPOU Exam Services was invited to answer queries about new policies and processes regarding exam during the General Forum on Administrative Policies and Processes while Prof. Jean A. Saludadez, Program Chair of Graduate Certificate in/Master of ASEAN Studies also joined the FB Live to answer all the queries from students of ASEAN Studies program during the program orientation. Other Program Chairs and some Faculty-In-Charge were online during the program and answered queries from students.

Mr. Oscar L. Alvarez, Jr. a graduate of the Diploma in Environment and Natural Resources Management (DENRM) program and Ms. Dina S. Imatong, a graduate of Diploma in Research and Development Management (DRDM) program, both members of the UPOU Alumni Association, Inc. shared their stories and experiences in dealing with their studies as online learners.

True to UPOU’s aim to transcend borders and break barriers, students were encouraged to post their pictures showing their location while watching the student orientation live and post on Facebook with the hashtag #WhereAreYouNow #UPOpenUniversity #eLearning. This is also in line with UPOU’s #ShoutOutSaturday led by the Information Office.
