OASIS Launches Three Books and One Interactive CD for Distance Education
The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services of the UP Open University launched the second edition of three UPOU books and one interactive CD during the UPOU 11th Anniversary celebration on 22 February 2006 at the UPOU headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna.
UPOU Chancellor Felix Librero presented the books and CD to the UP System, which was represented by Dr Lydia R. Arcellana, Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs and Director, Office of Alumni Relations.
The three books are Communication Skills I, 2nd Ed., Biology: A Study Guide, 2nd Ed., and Upland Ecosystem Management, 2nd Ed.
The interactive CD is for the Philippine Institutions (PI) 100 course in the Associate in Arts program of UPOU.
The authors of Communication Skills I, 2nd Edition, are Dr. Adelaida A. Figuerras-Lucero and Prof. Roselia Moya-Torrecampo, faculty members of the Department of English and Comparative Literature, College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman.
Biology: A Study Guide, 2nd Edition, is by Drs. Gilda Carballo-Rivero and Ernelea P. Cao. Dr. Gilda Carballo-Rivero is a Professor of Biology at the Institute of Biology, College of Science, UP Diliman. Dr. Ernelea P. Cao is an Associate Professor of Biology at the Institute of Biology, UP Diliman and currently the Director of the UP Natural Science Research Institute.
Meanwhile, Dr. Teodoro R. Villanueva wrote Upland Ecosystem Management, 2nd Edition. Dr. Villanueva is a Professor in Forest Management, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, UPLB.
Dr. Bernard Karganilla is the author of the PI 100 interactive CD. He is a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Manila. (Millette A. Orias, OASIS)
