On 16 March 2007, UPOU Chancellor Grace Javier Alfonso presented to Mr. Aniceto Sobrepeña, President of the Metro Bank Foundation Inc. (MBFI), copies of the learning materials, which UPOU had developed through a grant from the foundation. The presentation took place at the Metro Bank Building in Makati City.
The Metro Bank Foundation through its Course Development Grant gave P3M for the development of 1 CD and 18 printed course materials that are now being used by UPOU students enrolled in the Associate in Arts Program.
During the turnover ceremony, Mr.Sobrepeña said that the grant for UPOU is one of the ways that the foundation supports the development of education in the Philippines. He further encouraged the UPOU to participate in the other MBFI projects on education. Mr. Sobrepeña also proposed a possible collaboration between UPOU and the Manila Doctors Hospital, of which he is also one of the board members.
Chancellor Alfonso welcomed the idea and proposed the holding of a briefing cum meeting between him and UPOU officials in the near future. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC).
