Flor receives SEARCA Professorial Chair Award

Dr. Alexander G. Flor was awarded the SEARCA Professorial Chair by the University of the Philippines System effective July 2008 until June 2009.
Dr. Flor is currently Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies. He is known for his work on the digital divide in Asia, information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D), knowledge management for natural resources management, and environmental communication.
The SEARCA Professorial Chair is open to qualified faculty members from any of the campuses of the UP System, except UP Los Baños where SEARCA already makes available a number of Chairs. To be considered for this award, the nominee must: 1) have a doctoral degree; 2) show proof of research or creative output; and 3) show proof of mentoring. In addition, the awardees must have proven excellence in academic and/or research work performance in his/her chosen field of specialization within SEARCA's priority thrusts of agricultural competitiveness and natural resource management.
As SEARCA Professorial Chair Awardee, Dr. Flor will present a Lecture titled Communities of Practice or Communities of Champions: Shifts in Knowledge Management Models to address Natural Resources Management Imperatives. (Emely M. Amoloza, FICS)
