UPOU Alumni Foundation has new officers
The UPOU Alumni Foundation Inc. (UPOUAFI) is now headed by Zandro Rapadas, a Master of Development Communication graduate (MDC ’07), was elected president during the Alumni General Assembly that coincided with the UPOU Grand Sunduan in UPOU, Los Baños held on 23 May 2008. An honor graduate (Dean’s list) at the 11th Commencement Exercises, Rapadas is now taking his Ph.D. program at the U.P. College of Mass Communication in Diliman.
Former alumni president Dr. Marilyn Palma-Reaño (MPH ’02) remains in the board as vice-president, while Leticia De Ocampo-Elegado (DENRM ’01) stays as treasurer.
The rest of the officers and board members include Maria Louella Parañal (AA ’08), secretary; Alexander A. Cañeda (DCS ’05), assistant treasurer; Jeffrey Pino (AA ’08), auditor; Karlos Jerome N. Llorin (MDC ’08), PRO; and Henry Gerald P. Ysaac, Jr. (DSSE ’08), PRO.
Completing the members of the Board are Shirley Bagayas (MDC ’08), Leslie Ann V. Jose (MDC ’07), Dina Imatong (DRDM ’98), Myrna de Roma (DRDM ’98), and Eriberto S. Garcia (DCS ’05). Two more seats in the board have yet to be confirmed.
The first board meeting was held on 14 June at the UPOU headquarters, wherein it was resolved to continue the promotion of membership in the alumni foundation; create a satellite office closer or within Manila in order for the officers, members and counterpart organizations to have a closer access to UPOUAFI; and explore possible collaboration with academic institutions and industries to develop short courses for professionals that will be offered through distance learning.
“The Alumni Foundation can also help in the University’s current thrust for a more a resource-based program development by serving as a link with various industries and industry experts,” Rapadas said.
A duly accredited alumni chapter of the U.P. Alumni Association (UPAA), the UPOU Alumni Foundation was represented by Rapadas and Elegado at the U.P.
