FVR is Centennial Lecturer on Aug 12

His Excellency Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Republic of the Philippines, will lecture on "Peace and Development: The Noblest Aspirations of Mankind." It will be held at the STTC Auditorium, NISMED, UP Diliman on August 12, 2008 at 2PM.

President Ramos' lecture is part of the UP Centennial Lecture Series. The lecture series is one of the major activities being held to celebrate UP's 100th year. It features talks/public lectures of distinguished scholars, academicians, and personalities from various fields. The lecture series is divided into four categories. The first category has 12 UP Centennial Fellows as speakers. They make a critique on the university, i.e., its achievements, failures, shortcomings, etc. The second category has Centennial Lecturers who speak on their views  about UP. The third category includes lectures by distinguished fellows/individuals. The last set of lectures is thematic or issue oriented lectures such as global warming, women, education, poverty, peace, and indigenous people. The lectures are open to the public.

President Ramos is the fourth lecturer under the "Lectures by Distinguished Fellow/Individual" category. The UP System, UP Open University, and UP Diliman are the hosts of this particular lecture. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC)
