UPOU Holds Strat Planning Workshop

To sharpen the strategies and enhance UPOU's capacity to lead in open
and distance learning (ODL) in the Asian region, the university held
a strategic planning workshop on 25 September 2008 at the UPOU AVRoom
in Los Banos, Laguna, participated in by the administrative officials and full-time faculty members of the university.
Dr. Grace J. Alfonso, UPOU Chancellor, led participants in discussing
new strategic plans that will enhance the university's capacity to
maximize and fully tap its resources and capabilities, as well as to
ensure their alignment with the new directives that UPOU will
implement. The workshop comes at an officious time when the UPOU is
now about to embark and enter the fifth generation of ODL, which the
Chancellor succinctly described as the stage of "helping build global
communities." This is also the stage, she said, wherein "ODL will be
heading to new directions and be facing new challenges."
Dr. Cynthia Rose Bautista, a full-time professor of the College of
Social Sciences and Philosophy in UP Diliman, facilitated the
workshop. (Luisa A. Gelisan)
