The UP Open University's Centennial Center for Digital Learning Building (CCDLB) “will be a symbol of the opening of doors to the countless possibilities presented by a digitized world,” Chancellor Grace Javier Alfonso said during the inauguration of the CCDLB on 16 November 2009.
The building is the third structure in the UPOU headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna. It will house a center that will spearhead research in emerging educational design and technologies for teaching and learning and shall be a training center in open and distance learning. Dr. Alfonso added that CCDLB will also house UPOU's IT offices and servers and will be one of the main hubs of the UPOU Creative Scholarly Networks which will carry “hypertext, hypermedia text, and hypermultimedia texts with content in the sciences, arts, culture, literature, narratives, [and other] professional fields”.
The inauguration of the building were led by UP President Emerlinda R. Roman, Regent Nelia T. Gonzalez, Chancellor Alfonso, and officials of the UP System who also attended the President's Advisory Council meeting held at the UPOU headquarters. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC).
