FICS conducts first FICS MeetUPs

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) conducted the first FICS MeetUPs. Knowing the importance of transferring knowledge (practices, lessons learned, procedures/processes, etc.), this activity aims to empower FICS staff members as well preserve the culture of FICS and ensure the continuity of its best practice. FICS MeetUPs are quarterly get-together of FICS administrative staff and research assistants where sharing of updates are done. UPOU Faculty members conferred UP Scientist Titles

The University of the Philippines (UP) released the names of the faculty and researchers who were conferred the UP Scientific Productivity Award for CY 2018-2020. UPOU forges new partnerships on its 24th Anniversary

New partnerships were forged and sealed by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) on 01 March 2019 as part of the celebration of its 24th Anniversary. Search is out for the Next UPOU Chancellor

The University of the Philippines (UP) is in search for the Next Chancellor of the UP Open University (UPOU). In November 2018, UP President Danilo L. Concepcion released an administrative order to institute a search process for the next Chancellor of UPOU, and constitute the search committee. The Incumbent Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria, ended her term on 28 February 2019. The search process commenced with the nomination and constitution of the Search Committee. A free eye checkup was organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (OVCFA) through the Human Resources Development Office (HRDO). UPOU joins Nationwide Earthquake Drill

The twenty-first day of February 2019 marked the National Earthquake Drill for the Philippines, which the University of the Philippines (UP) dubbed as #UPShakeDrill. All constituent units of UP, including the UP Open University (UPOU), prepared for and participated in the event. The University of the Philippines moves up to the top 101-110 universities of the Asia-Pacific region, leaping from its place in the 151-160 bracket in 2018 and in the 201+ bracket in 2017, based on the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia-Pacific University Ranking released on February 20, 2019.
