UPOU celebrates the past and looks into the future as it marks its 20th year.

The UP Open University is turning 20 on 23 February 2015. This year’s theme will be "OURevolution," which is a celebration of UPOU’s evolution as an open university and reaffirmation of its commitment to making quality education more accessible to more people in the years to come.

UPOU's 20th Anniversary will be a yearlong celebration that will involve several activities. First on the list is the 1st International Symposium on ASEAN Studies (ISAS) on 24 February 2015, which will be participated in by experts and delegates from the 10 country states of ASEAN.

The anniversary dinner and program will be held on the night of 24 February at the UPOU Headquarters and will be highlighted by the launch of the yearlong anniversary activities, release of the book “Through their Voices, Through the Years: Thought Papers of UPOU Chancellors,” and recognition of UPOU partners.

UPOU has also reserved a special day to express its appreciation to its workforce. The UPOU Family Day will be held on 26 February. Service, Professorial Chair, and Gawad Chancellor Awards will be distributed to deserving people who have proven themselves loyal and outstanding members of the university.

Other activities scheduled for the rest of the year include UPOU’s Team Building and Wellness Celebration dubbed “Usaping Pangkalusugan sa Open University ” and the Launch of the MOOC on Inter-local Cooperation in March; the International Wood Culture Celebration in April; All UP Day in May; UPOU’s Alay ng UP sa Community in June which will include the inauguration of the UPOU Community Hub, the Opening of the Museum Exhibit and the Senior and Kid’s Corner; “Wiki Wika: Filipino sa Panahon ng Digital” Forum in August; Launch of “Pass Mo, Pass Ko” in September; the October Film Fest; the Organic Fair and the launch of the book entitled “UPOU Stories: People and Events” in November; the culmination of “Pass Mo, Pass Ko” in December; and the ODL Excellence Award in January 2016.

The past two decades have given UP Open University innumerable achievements to celebrate about. As UPOU celebrates its 20th Anniversary, the UPOU shall never cease to continue to evolve and revolutionize open and distance e-learning to be able to continuously serve the constantly changing needs of lifelong learners in the country and beyond.

As the multiple readings of its 20th anniversary theme suggest: OU revolution. Our evolution. OUR Revolution.
