The UPOU Multimedia Center organized the Kwentong OU Digital Video and Multimedia Festival and Competition. This was launched in November 2019 as one of the activities for UPOU's 25th Anniversary Celebration in 2020. The members of the UPOU Community  university, particularly students, and alumni were encouraged to share their Kwentong OU through videos. On  30 April 2022, after several postponements because of the pandemic, the awarding ceremony for the festival and competition was aired via UPOU Networks' FB page. The global pandemic forced teachers to conduct synchronous classes via online platforms, such as Zoom and Google Meet.  It also led to the establishment of DepEd TVwhich is the Department of Education’s (DepEd) main platform of delivering lessons to all grade levels through television (TV). UP Open University (UPOU) Master of ASEAN Studies  (MAS) alum, Ambassador Elizabeth Buensuceso, authored a book drawn from her Master’s thesis.  Her book is titled “ASEAN Centrality: An Autoethnographic Account by a Philippine Diplomat” and was published this 2021 under Yusuf Ishak ISEAS in Singapore. The book is Ambassador Buensuceso’s exploration of a more authentic meaning of the “ASEAN Centrality” based on her point of view and her own practice and experiences as a diplomat from one of ASEAN’s five founding members. On 31 July 2021, the University of the Philippines Open University Alumni Foundation, Inc. (UPOUAFI) Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) Chapter conducted a virtual workshop titled “ISTORYA: Mga Makabuluhang Kwento ng mga Cyber Isko at Iska.” This was held as part of the two-day first-ever UPOU Alumni Congress.
