The University of the Philippines (UP) has approved 571 UP Open University (UPOU) students for graduation. This 16 December 2023, UPOU will hold its 27th Commencement Exercises to confer these degrees to these students. Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), attended the 29th International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) World Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica. In the age of fast-paced, accessible, and efficient learning, the UP Open University (UPOU) Educational Media Production (EMP), Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL) launched its program called FASTLearn or Flexible and Accelerated Short Micro-Videos for Teaching and Learning.  FastLearn introduces an approach to knowledge dissemination through short, engaging videos. The UP Open University (UPOU) Educational Media Production (EMP) unit of the Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL) has launched the Tech Tips series on Creating an Interactive Video Using H5P.  Tech Tips is a series of video learning materials featuring how-to’s of using commonly unexplored features of productivity softwares or apps. This quarter’s FICS MeetUPs featured playing chess as a way to unwind from stress and improve cognitive health. Mr. Jerome Suplemento II, an FICS Project Staff based in UP Diliman and a chess enthusiast, talked about the benefits of chess and how it is played during this activity that was conducted on 23 November 2023. FICS staff were able to attend and learn the game during the virtual event.
