Five faculty members and researchers represented the University of the Philippines Open University  (UPOU) in the World Learning Labs Symposium (WoLL) 2023 held at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) on 27-28 January 2023. The event brought together industry professionals and academics to discuss real-world case studies and contexts of post-pandemic learning environments. Participants during the last synchronous session of the QASAR Writeshop. The UPOU Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), through the  coordinated efforts of the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS), the Multimedia Center (MC) and ICT Development Office (ICTDO), organized a hybrid Seminar-Workshop on Introduction to Online Course Development and Facilitation for its new faculty members, affiliates, and lecturers on 24-25 January 2023. Two UPOU Faculty of Education (FEd) students bagged the grand prizes in the University of the Philippines (UP) System-wide gamification activity, "The Great InfoHunt 2022." Ms. Fria Shayne Nuñez, BES student, won the Apple iPad and Ms. Rich-Anne Dayo, MSSE student, won the Lenovo laptop. Women of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) harvested organic eggplants and ladies’ fingers, commonly known as “okra”, at the FMDS Perma GARDEN (Growing Appreciation toward Resilience, Development, Entrepreneurship and Nutrition) on 24 January 2023. The FMDS Perma GARDEN is an initiative of the Faculty led by Dean Joane Serrano to support sustainable production and consumption, and to contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), is now serving as a member of the Governing Board of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC).  She was appointed as the representative of the Philippines, effective from 7 November 2022, and will run until 6 November 2025. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Information and Communications Studies (FICS) held its recognition program for the graduating class of A.Y. 2021-2022 on 10 December 2022 at the CCDL Auditorium, UPOU HQ.
