The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) will be celebrating its 27th founding anniversary on 23 February 2022. This celebration carries the theme “University of the Future: Reimaginations, Reconfigurations, Realizations.” The 27th Anniversary Program will be held virtually in the morning of the 23rd. Activities for the year prepared by various UPOU offices will be launched, and the winners of the Gawad Chancellor Award for Outstanding UPOU Personnel will be announced. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, has appointed Dr. Diego Silang S. Maranan as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) for the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).  Dr. Maranan holds a doctorate degree in Art and Media as a Marie Curie Fellow at the Plymouth University, United Kingdom. On 24 January 2022, the University of the Philippines Open University  (UPOU) Provisional Committee (ProvComm) had its first meeting with UPOU Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria. Ann Michelle S. Medina, a UP Open University (UPOU) student of the Master of Distance Education (MDE) program, bagged the Outstanding High School Teacher Award in the DepEd Schools Division Office (SDO) of Rizal’s 2021 Gawad Kampilan held last 16 December 2021. Medina is a secondary school teacher and ICT coordinator from Tagumpay National High School (TNHS) located at Rodriguez, Rizal. Assistant Professor Charisse T. Reyes, a regular faculty (on study leave) at the UPOU Faculty of Education and currently a third year PhD student at the School of Chemistry, Monash University, participated in 2021 International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies, Pacifichem Congress 2021, conducted in Hawai’i, USA. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) held its Online Recognition and Fellowship Program last 18 December 2021. The recognition program was held to commemorate and honor the FMDS graduating  class of 2021.  The program opened with  warm greetings from the FMDS Dean, Dr. Primo G. Garcia.
