On its 24th Anniversary, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) will be highlighting Excellence and Equity. With the theme “Excellence in Equity, Equity in Excellence,” UPOU shares its journey in maintaining quality and excellence in education through open and distance elearning (ODeL) with its partners, stakeholders, alumni, students, the entire UP System and other constituent units, and the rest of the higher education institutions in the Philippines and abroad. One year shy of its silver Anniversary, UPOU will be having a simple but elegant celebration as a prelude to the milestone it will celebrate in 2020.

This 01 March 2019, UPOU’s one-day celebration will kick-off with signing of agreements for new and renewed partnerships with local and international institutions will follow at the UPOU Audio Visual Room.

The 24th Anniversary program will be held at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) Auditorium at 9:30 AM. All stakeholders and partners of UPOU are invited to the event to celebrate, including its former officials, partners, alumni, and its community. New programs and publications will be launched during the event, and partners will be recognized. In addition, exemplary faculty members, REPS and administrative staff members will be conferred the Gawad Chancellor Awards.

The celebration will continue in the afternoon, especially for the employees of the university. Special Recognition will be given to people who have rendered loyal service to the university for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years. Retirees for the year will also be recognized.

Anniversaries are celebrated once a year for the special purpose of remembering and recognizing what the university has been through. This one-day celebration, despite its simplicity, hopes to reflect UPOU’s continuing advocacy for excellence and equity that it continues to proliferate through its instruction, research, public service, and administration.
