The twenty-first day of February 2019 marked the National Earthquake Drill for the Philippines, which the University of the Philippines (UP) dubbed as #UPShakeDrill. All constituent units of UP, including the UP Open University (UPOU), prepared for and participated in the event. Dr. Ria Mae Borromeo appointed as new Director of UPOU ICTDO

In keeping up with the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012 (RA 10173), twenty-three University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) faculty, Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS), and administrative staff members underwent a 4-day Data Privacy Officer (DPO) Training Course.
