UP VINTA Program Sets Sail Pioneering Borderless Education from the Philippines to Japan

In a groundbreaking initiative to redefine the boundaries of education, the University of the Philippines (UP) proudly launched its flagship program, UP VINTA, heralding a new era of transnational academia. The program, officially known as the University of the Philippines – Ventures for Innovative Transnational Academia, embarked on its maiden voyage with its first stop in Japan on 22 March 2024.

UP VINTA represents a paradigm shift in educational models, as it boldly embraces a borderless approach to learning, transcending geographical constraints and fostering global connectivity. Aimed at Filipino learners venturing abroad, as well as those residing within the Philippines, the program stands as a beacon of opportunity, offering accessible education irrespective of location.

The inaugural event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including UP President Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez, UP Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Leo DP Cubillan, UPOU Chancellor Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, UPOU Linkages Officer Ms. Margaret Jarmin-Suarez, who also served as the event’s host, and Her Excellency Mylene De Joya Garcia-Albano represented by the First Secretary and Consul of the Cultural Section, Ms. Mary Joy B. Ramirez. Their presence underscored the significance of UP VINTA as a pioneering force in reshaping the educational landscape.

Speaking at the event, President Jimenez emphasized UP’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity as UP VINTA embodies our vision of a progressive and globally-connected university, dedicated to empowering learners wherever they may be.

Dr. Cubillan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the transformative potential of borderless education in fostering cultural exchange and collaboration. He also shared that through UP VINTA, we break down barriers and cultivate a dynamic learning community that transcends borders.

Chancellor Bandalaria reaffirmed UP’s dedication to excellence, noting that UP VINTA represents a convergence of tradition and innovation as we harness the power of technology to deliver quality education to all.

First Secretary and Consul Ramirez commended the program’s forward-thinking approach, praising UP’s initiative in promoting cross-cultural understanding and academic excellence on a global scale.

As UP VINTA sets sail for six more countries, including destinations across Asia and beyond, it paves the way for a new era of educational advancement.
