The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Human Resource Development Office (HRDO), under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (OVCFA), spearheaded the briefing and re-orientation of the Home and Mutual Development Fund (HDMF) or Pag-IBIG Fund on 29 January 2019 at the UPOU Oblation Hall in Los Banos, Laguna.

Mr. Donald Alilio, of the Marketing & Enforcement Department of Pag-IBIG Calamba Branch, discussed in detail how Pag-IBIG benefits will help UPOU employees. He explained about the scope, classifications, interest rates and flexibility periods available for housing loans. Besides the mandatory Pag-IBIG 1 which provides several loan options for employees, PAG-IBIG 2 (MP2) also offers a 5-year savings program for a higher dividend rate.

Mr. Alilio also mentioned that all members are encouraged to avail Pag-IBIG identification cards (ID) or Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card either through their branches or through a special visit to the university. He explained that to show PAG-IBIG’s loyalty to its members, it has tied up with numerous business establishments for members to avail discounts using their Pag-IBIG IDs.

After the discussion, the floor was opened for questions. Most of the employees took interest in the housing loan program and Mr. Alilio was able to answer their questions aptly. Pag-IBIG forms were also made available for those who needed any change to their records, or wish to apply or upgrade their MP1 or MP2 accounts.

UPOU employees attended the orientation. (ACLlamas)
