UPOU inks new agreements and recognizes partners.As part of UPOU's 21st Anniversary celebration held on 29 February 2016, UPOU signed agreements with new partners and recognized institutions, agencies, associations and groups that it partnered with in 2015.
Led by Chancellor Grace Javier Alfonso, UPOU signed a memorandum of understanding with Geoinformetrics for the launch of the training program on the Application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Climate and Disaster Risk Management and Land Use Planning to be held on 12-13 April 2016. This collaboration aims to promote the use of GIS using open source through intensive basic GIS training and other GIS-related applications and projects.
Ms. Cristy Tambo, Geoinformetrics' Managing Partner signed for the company. Rick Jayson Tatlonghari, Managing Partner of Geoinformetrics, and Dr. Melinda F. Lumanta, UPOU Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, acted as witnesses.
Plaques of recognition were also given to the partners present at the event, which included the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research In Agriculture (SEARCA), UP Open University Foundation, Inc. (UPOUFI), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Kobe International University, and Geoinfometrics Solutions Co.
Other partners recognized were Here's Hope Ministries, Inc. (Dorcas House), Yung-Ta Institute of Technology & Commerce Foundation, Shu-Te University, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), University of Islam Malang, University of Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur, Indonesia, Batangas State University, Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urban Planning, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Vicente Gustilo District Hospital (VGDH), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII.
