UP Open University Unveils Most Awaited Activities for National Women’s Month 2021

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) in partnership with the UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), UPOU Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, and other partners will be conducting various activities in celebration of the National Women’s Month in March 2021. This year’s theme is: “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women: Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!”.

Introductory Course on Contact-center Services

The UPOU Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and the UPOU OGC partner with the largest BPO Company in the Philippines in developing an online introductory course on contact-center services. As the country continues to struggle with the economic implications of the pandemic, UPOU recognizes that one of the most resilient industries that has survived the pandemic is the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. The online training program will be pilot tested among rural women groups to help them develop digital literacy skills as well as improve their communication skills. The program will also provide the participants with industry linkages for employment opportunities. The pilot test of the online training program will be on 15 March 2021 and the full launch will be in May 2021.

International Research Forum on Gender

The UPOU-FMDS Research and Publication Committee and the UPOU OGC  will be having a research forum focusing on gender issues. The forum will showcase the research outputs of students, staff, and faculty of UPOU with Ami Skånberg Dahlstedt, a senior lecturer from the Stockholm University of the Arts, as the keynote speaker. This will be held online via Zoom and live-streamed via UPOU networks on 17 March 2021, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
