The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) through its Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, and the National Association for Sikolohiyang Pilipino, Inc. (NASPI), through its President, Dr. Jayson D. Petras, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 1 April 2022 to strengthen its academic and institution cooperation to explore opportunities for cooperation in holding webinars and other academic activities in the field of sociology.
Prior to the MOU, UPOU and NASPI have partnered in conducting an OPEN Talk episode, a live webinar featuring Sociology experts from UP Diliman as speakers held via UPOU digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and UPOU Networks official website.
Such initiative of the NASPI aims to build awareness of the audience about sociology through innovative channels and platforms that UPOU has been an expert with for over 20 years. This said collaboration pushed for joint efforts to strengthen sociology as part of the discussion to educate the audience and build their consciousness and comprehension of topics befitting current conditions.
Sociology discussions provide mindfulness to current societal conditions, challenges, and patterns hence must be given significance to properly educate and inform audiences.
