UPOU Collaborates with IFSU in Celebrating Philippine Heritage Month

In celebration of the Philippine Heritage Month 2022, the Ifugao State University (IFSU) in collaboration with the UP Open University (UPOU), and the Hungduan Municipality launched an exhibit and cultural showcase of indigenous houses, stories, and cuisines at the IFSU Hapao Campus on 26 May 2022. The exhibit, with the theme “Pangipaptok hi Nunhituwan: The Built Heritage of Hungduan,” featured five cultural showcases. It highlighted the Ifugao native house as the symbol of Ifugao culture, which may serve as a springboard for discussion of cultural narratives, thereby facilitating collaborations for the conservation and preservation of the Ifugao Rice Terraces landscape. The Ugnayan ng Pahinungod University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) hosted a webinar titled “Mag-isaisip: Conversations on Mindfulness” on 16 May 2022.  The webinar is the fifth and last in the Lusog-Isip series organized by the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Committee on Psychosocial Emergency Services (CoPES). In the third episode of the Revitalizing Socioecological Production Landscapes And Seascapes (SEPLS) webinar series, Ms. Kien Dang, MSc of the Social Policy Ecology Research Institute (SPERI) discussed examples in Vietnam about groundworks in the restoration of its local native seeds, seedlings, and trees.SEPLS. The Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) organized an event held on 7 to 8 April 2022 for the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research Program (EIDR) Cycle 8 Project Leaders to showcase system funded research projects. UPOU Conducts Referendum for Student Constitution

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) conducted a referendum for the ratification of the UPOU Student Constitution on 18 - 22 April 2022.  The voting period was  extended until 30 April 2022 upon the approval of the UP Student Regent to allow more students to participate.  Students voted through the newly established student affairs platform aptly called Tagpuan. The approval of the UPOU Student Constitution allows for its sanction and implementation, thereby ensuring genuine student representation and upholding the student's rights through the creation of the student council and various student organizations. MAN Lecturer gets the Best Oral Presenter Award at MDCON Research Congress

Ms. Ma. Elma L. Mirandilla, Lecturer of the  Faculty of Management and Development (FMDS) – Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) Program, won the Best Oral Presenter at the 14th Manila Doctors College of Nursing Research Congress held last 11 May 2022. The paper she presented titled The Practicality and Applicability of Using Indigenous Knowledge for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in Four Municipalities in the Province of Sorsogon, Philippines is likewise published in the Bicol University R&D Journal Vol. 23 Issue 2, December 2020.  The paper  talks about the traditional knowledge and practices which aided the survival of Sorsoganons [...]
