FICS Staff during the Zoom MeetUPs

The Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS), UP Open University (UPOU) conducted its first Zoom MeetUPs on 28 May 2020. FICS MeetUPs is a quarterly activity of FICS administrative staff and Research Assistants. The session was held during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) period, thus the use of Zoom video conferencing, to adapt despite the disruptions in the workplace brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For this quarter, one of the FICS’ Junior Research Associates, Yrelle Lleva, presented her chosen topic: “Walang Far kung Hardworking: Zoom for WFH Employees.” The presentation aimed to share some of the basic procedures in conducting Zoom meetings with respect to the UPOU  guidelines. The session also served as a space for sharing some of the lessons learned from the seminar about Conducting Webinar While on ECQ/ MCQ/ GCQ.

As an additional skill-sharing activity, the presenter shared some tips on how to  generate certificates for events with many participants through the use of basic Microsoft software like Word and Excel. Participants of the session had expressed that the activity was  and will be helpful to those who are preparing for future events and activities.

FICS MeetUPs encourages the sharing of knowledge and skills to one another. The transferring of practices, processes and lessons-learned from one individual to another empowers the staff members, preserves the culture of FICS and ensures the continuity of its best practice.
