Dr. Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria, Chancellor of the  University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) served as one of the panelists in the launching of the Philippine Business for Education’s (PBEd) First Future 2.0 Project  on 2 February 2021. The First Future 2.0 project is an initiative by PBEd that addresses the employability of youth without college degrees by developing training programs on re/skilling and upskilling. The UPOU was tapped as a partner in developing and vetting the two online courses: Future-Ready CSR – Growth Mindset Training Customer Service Representatives (CSR) and Beyond Expertise – Cultivating Leadership Skills in Subject Matter Experts (SME).

The program started with opening remarks from Ramon R. del Rosario, Chairman of Philippine Business for Education (PBEd). Followed by a message from Aftab Ahmed, the Citi Country Officer for the Philippines. The presentation of the project was conducted by Justine B. Raagas, the Director for Workforce Development (PBEd). 

The panel discussion revolved around youth employment, equipping them with the necessary skills and competencies to enter the workforce and the importance of strong collaboration among different sectors especially the industry and the academe. Along with Dr. Bandalaria are other panelists from industry and government agencies, such as  USEC Tonisito Umali from the Department of Education (DepEd) and Associate Director Hazel Aguinsada of Concentrix Philippines.
