The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is offering free microcredential (MC) courses on Digital Workplace Competency Training (DWCT) for its personnel from 13 to 31 October 2025. The course is delivered through UPOU ASCEND, the university’s dedicated platform for microcredentials.

The DWCT course serves as a pilot microcredential program designed to equip UPOU staff with essential digital knowledge and tools for thriving in a technology-driven work environment. It is anchored on the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp 2.2), a standard developed by the European Union to advance digital literacy and proficiency.
Through these free MC courses, UPOU faculty and staff will gain practical skills in information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, online safety, and problem-solving. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
This initiative supports UP’s vision of developing a workforce that is adaptable to technological advancements and the evolving demands of the digital age. It also forms part of the UP System’s broader efforts to strengthen digital competencies across its personnel, ensuring that UP remains innovative, resilient, and effective in a digitally enabled academic and professional environment.
The Digital Workplace Competency Training (DWCT) was developed by the MicroCASA Philippines team, composed of the UP System, UP Open University, and Ateneo de Manila University.
