A free eye checkup was organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (OVCFA) through the Human Resources Development Office (HRDO). This was arranged in cooperation with Soltura Optical Clinic and was held on 20 February 2019 at the UPOU Oblation Hall in Los Banos, Laguna.

UPOU employes, Student Assistants and even students who are on-the-job trainees with UPOU availed of the free service.

The free eye checkup was organized as part of the university’s aim to ensure the health and wellness of its employees. Anchored under the flagship program TAYO, which stands for Team Approach Youthful Outlook, UPOU targets the overall wellness of its constituents through different initiatives that promote the employees physical, mental and social health. A meaningful close to the JSFP TourThe Japanese Speakers' Forum in the Philippines (JSFP) Tour concluded on 29 October 2025 with the presentation of video outputs created by student delegates, showcasing the insights and experiences they gained throughout the four-day program. Teacher-facilitators and selected members of the Japan Foundation Manila (JFM), Kamenori Foundation, and UP Open University (UPOU) offered thoughtful questions and warm commendations for their impressive work. As part of the program, the students thoughtfully wrote and presented their sustainability pledges, reflecting on their commitment to a greener future.Earlier in the tour, participants explored various cultural and environmental landmarks. After the opening program on Day 1, Day 2 included a visit to Paete, Laguna, followed by a film screening of A Thousand Forests at the UPOU Academic Residences.
