FICS Faculty Member Showcases Innovative Project at UIF Demo Day

Dr. Ruth Rodriguez, UP Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) faculty member, showcased her innovative project KREATTIV at the University Innovation Fellowship (UIF) Demo Day held on 24 September 2024 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Dr. Rodriguez’ project, KREATTIV, is a cutting-edge omnichannel marketplace that aims to revolutionize the arts and crafts industry by connecting artisans with customers worldwide. Leveraging technology, the platform provides a seamless shopping experience for art buyers and collectors, promotes local talent, and ensures product authenticity. She highlighted the potential of KREATTIV to drive economic growth and cultural preservation. As a result, her insights into the platform’s features and benefits resonated with the audience, which included faculty members, industry leaders, and government officials.

Assistant Professor Rodriguez is among the distinguished fellows of Batch 6 of the UIF, launched on 20 May 2024 at the University of the Philippines Executive House. Another UPOU Assistant Professor, Dr. Rita Ramos from the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) joins Dr. Rodriguez in the roster of fellows. The launch was hosted by the President of the University of the Philippines System, Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez, and Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) Director, Dr. Luis Sison.

With the support of the UIF, Dr. Rodriguez and other fellows are poised to make a significant impact on their respective fields and contribute to the advancement of society.
