The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), through its Quality Assurance Office (QAO), successfully conducted the 5th Batch of the Pre–External Quality Review (EQR) Writeshops for the Graduate Certificate in ASEAN Studies (GCAS) and the Diploma in Social Work (DSW) Program SAR Writing Teams. These writeshops form part of the University’s continuing preparations for the upcoming External Quality Review scheduled on 24-26 June 2026.
The GCAS Program held its writeshop on 26 January 2026, while the DSW Program conducted its session on 13 February 2026. The activities were designed to support the respective Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Writing Teams in refining their reports, addressing the data needed, and consolidating the required documentary evidence in accordance with the AUN-QA framework.
For the GCAS Program, the SAR Writing Team was led by Program Chair Asst. Prof. Lorena Jean D. Saludadez, with the support of Assistant Writers Asst. Prof. Maria Carolina R. Bello and Mr. Michael Angelo T. Tiu. During the writeshop, the team focused on strengthening the alignment of their SAR narratives with program outcomes, ensuring clarity in the presentation of evidence, and organizing supporting documents to meet the expectations of the External Reviewers.

Following this, the DSW Program’s writeshop was led by Program Chair Dean Finaflor F. Taylan, together with Assistant Writers Asst. Prof. Lloyd Lyndel P. Simporios and Ms. Rebecca B. Ballesteros. The session provided a dedicated venue for reviewing and enhancing the program’s SAR, ensuring consistency in data presentation, completeness of attachments, and coherence of quality assurance mechanisms described in the report.

Through the Pre-EQR Writeshop, the DSW and GCAS programs strengthened their readiness for the upcoming review by clarifying roles, assigning tasks, and establishing internal timelines. The activity reaffirmed UPOU’s strong commitment to continuous quality improvement and academic excellence across its graduate programs.
