As part of the search for the next Dean of the Faculty of Education (FEd), Dr. Charisse T. Reyes, incumbent Dean and lone nominee, presented both the accomplishments of the Faculty during her term and her proposed Vision for 2029 in two public forums held on 6 and 13 January 2026.

The forums were held in a hybrid format, with participants joining on-site at UP Open University (UPOU) facilities and online via Zoom and UPOU’s Facebook and YouTube platforms. These activities were organized by the Search Committee to promote transparency and community engagement in the leadership selection process.

In her presentation of accomplishments, Dr. Reyes reported significant enrollment growth, including over 4,000 new students admitted in 2023–2024; ongoing program revisions for the Diploma in Teaching and Diploma in Science and Science Education; and quality improvement initiatives across FEd academic offerings. She also highlighted faculty and staff development efforts and emphasized that her most meaningful achievement was building a collaborative and people-centered Faculty culture.

During the second forum, Dr. Reyes presented her Vision for 2029, centered on strengthening FEd as a living learning community anchored on shared responsibility, inclusivity, and public service. Her vision is guided by five strategic pillars focusing on academic excellence, student and alumni engagement, partnerships, people development, and strengthened governance systems. Priority programs include setting measurable performance indicators and expanding inclusive initiatives such as the Pagtulay Program.

The forums concluded with open discussions on academic programs, faculty and student growth, operational concerns, and emerging issues such as artificial intelligence in academic writing. Dr. Reyes reiterated her commitment to responsive and collaborative leadership as the Faculty of Education prepares for its next phase.

On 13 and 14 January, consultation sessions were also held with UPOU faculty, REPS, administrative staff, students, and alumni. The final interview with Dr. Reyes by the Search Committee was held on 14 January 2026.

Dr. Reyes is serving as Dean of the UPOU Faculty from 23 February 2023 until 22 February 2026. Should the UP Board of Regents accept the nomination and appoint her as Dean for her second term, she will serve until February 2029.
