The Immersive Spatial Technologies and Realities (ISTaR) Labs of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), led by Dean Roberto B. Figueroa Jr., is hosting a series of Blender software workshops facilitated by Lab Prefect John Orbe. Held every Tuesday, these sessions offer a flexible learning format, with lab members able to join virtually or on-site.

As an introductory course, the program features guided instruction and hands-on exercises tailored for beginners to provide the team with a strong foundation in 3D design. The workshop is designed as a collective mentorship to enable students, artists, and researchers to share their approaches in essential 3D modeling and rendering skills using Blender, a widely used open-source software in digital design, animation, and game development.

Beyond technical training, the workshops foster creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling lab members to explore new artistic possibilities and apply their skills to various digital and real-world projects. The workshop also serves as a platform for developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for 3D rendering. This initiative aligns with ISTaR Labs’ commitment to advancing digital innovation and skill development within the academic and creative communities.

By engaging in this collaborative learning environment, lab members can expand their artistic and technical capabilities while contributing to the evolving digital visualization field of augmented, virtual, and mixed realities (AR, VR, XR).
