SyenSaya 2021

The Los Baños Science and Community Foundation, Inc. (LBSC) invites curious minds to its  annual SyenSaya or the Los Banos Science Festival celebration. This year’s theme is “Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon” which will be held on 24 -26 November 2021.

The Opening Program will be held on 24 November 2021, at 9:00 AM streamed via LBSC Official Facebook page and will feature Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., the Undersecretary for Science &Technology Services, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as the guest speaker.  This is also the venue where the Wonderama Exhibit will be opened. Wonderama is an exhibition which showcases scientific discoveries and latest research breakthroughs by the 24 LBSC member-agencies. Since the pandemic broke out in 2020, Wonderama transitioned to the virtual space to make the exhibit accessible despite the lockdowns, and not just within the Los Baños Community. Its online presence allows people from all over the world to access LBSC’s featured technologies, programs and services, which are presented as a curated list of captured or rendered multimedia resources.

On 25 November 2021, the key activity of SyenSaya 2021 would be the Technology Forum/Talakayan or TechnoForum titled “COVID-19 Vaccines and Herd Immunity,” with discussions about the current status of COVID-19 and initiatives on the COVID-19 Vaccination Program by the Los Baños Local Government Unit (LGU). It will also touch on vaccine hesitancy, herd immunity and why it is important, as well as the innovations on the COVID-19 vaccines by experts and researchers. The Technoforum will start at 09:00 am via Zoom and on LBSC’s Official Facebook page. Interested participants may join in the Technoforum by registering through this link posted on LBSC’s FB Page.

The Research and Development (R&D) Awarding and Closing Ceremony will be held on 26 November 2021. The winners of the Best R&D and Youth Science Award (YSA) will be announced as well as the winners of LBSC’s Spoken Word Poetry Contest.

SyenSaya is LBSC’s yearly local celebration of the DOST’s National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) aimed at bringing science and technology to the people of Los Baños and its neighboring communities. SyenSaya started in 2008 and has since been an avenue for the 24 LBSCFI member-agencies to uplift lives through S&T.
