The UP Open University (UPOU) Multimedia Center (MC) conducted the training on Basic Audio and Video Systems Operations on 18 May 2016 at the CCDL Auditorium, UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna.Dr. Joane V. Serrano, MC Director, said that the training aims to enhance the capacity and capability of UPOU personnel in providing assistance in the operations of audio and video equipment. She added that MC shall be conducting more training programs on IT equipment operation and multimedia production.
The training, participated in by 27 UPOU REPS and administrative staff members, focused on proper operation and care of audio and video equipment regularly used in UPOU activities. The resource persons were staff members of MC.
Mr. Allan S. Nuñez, Audio-Video Equipment Operator, discussed audio systems and basic operation of an audio mixer. He explained the terms relevant to audio systems; parts of the audio mixer and their functions; proper cables and plugs to use; proper operations of the audio mixer; and tips on how to produce quality audio.
Ms. Luisa A. Gelisan, University Researcher, talked about microphones, microphones types according to pick-up patterns, and their proper use and handling. On the other hand, Mr. Edison D. Sevillo, Information Systems Researcher, discussed the basic operations of an LCD Projector. He also gave pointers on its proper usage and equipment handling.
A hands-on workshop was conducted after the lectures. This was facilitated to give the participants a chance to operate all the equipment. Mr. Nunez, Mr. Sevillo and Mr. Manuel Raymond de Leon, Audio and Video Equpment Operator, assisted the trainees during the workshop. (Anna Cañas-Llamas and Luisa A. Gelisan).
