Prof. Aurora Lacaste, UPOU Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, during the QA Launch: TalaQAyan 2025 and the Display of UP and UPOU Quality Policies.
The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) marked its third anniversary on 27 February 2026 with two activities: a QA Launch at the UPOU International Convention Center (ICC) and a QA Booth at the ICC Lobby.
The morning program featured the launch of TalaQAyan: UPOU QA Data Report 2025. Introduced during the UPOU’s 31st anniversary celebration, the report presents key institutional data, including rankings, survey results, and Performance Budget Monitoring System (PBMS) results. Structured around three areas: achievements (Tala), current action plans (aQAy), and future directions (QAya), TalaQAyan provides a concise, data-driven snapshot of the University’s performance and strategic direction.
During the event, Asst. Prof. Ria Valerie Cabanes, QAO Director, also unveiled the public display of UP and UPOU Quality Policies across campus. The initiative aims to strengthen awareness and emphasize that quality assurance is a shared responsibility among academic and administrative units.
In the afternoon, the QA Booth offered an interactive space for participants to explore TalaQAyan 2025 and learn more about the work of QAO. The booth featured QApture (photo booth), QAalaman (QA-themed games), StickQA! (free stickers), and QAinan (QA-themed snacks), adding a celebratory and engaging element to the anniversary activities.
