Four Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Staff attended the UP CU Quality Assurance (QA) Staff Capability Building Workshop on 28-29 May 2025 at Ibis Styles Manila Araneta City, Quezon City. It was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs to strengthen the skills of staff members who support the university’s QA initiatives.

The workshop started with an orientation from Prof. Alyssa Peleo-Alampay, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and UP System Chief Quality Assurance Officer. In her talk, she emphasized the pivotal role of QA staff members in the implementation of quality assurance measures in the university. Four other speakers also facilitated the workshops: Prof. Ma. Aura Matias, Director of UP Diliman Quality Assurance Office; Professor Emeritus Irene Villaseñor, AUN-QA Assessor; Prof. Corazon Abansi, former UP Baguio Chancellor; and Prof. Phillip Ian Padilla, Ex-Officio Co-Chair of UP Visayas Quality Assurance Office.  All four speakers are members-at-large of the UP System QA Committee.

Topics discussed included project management, the AUN-QA framework, and the internal quality assurance system. Along with the four speakers, UP System QA staff members Ms. Rexie Quizon, Ms. Geleen Rica Javellana, and Mr. Raymund Arthur Matias also facilitated sessions on Internal Academic Assessment and Development System (iAADS) and the QA Portal.

The workshop served as a preparatory stage for the QA support staff ahead of the upcoming UPOU EQA Assessments. The event is in line with SDG 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education for all, as well as SDG 17, which highlights partnerships to achieve the SDGs.
