Stakeholders of the Teacher Development Program for Mauban, Quezon signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of the program’s 7th Phase on 27 August 2019 at the UPOU CCDL Auditorium, Los Banos, Laguna.

Government and private institutions working together for the development and implementation of the Teacher Development Program (TDP) for Mauban, Quezon signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of the program’s 7th Phase.

Dr. Melinda dP Bandalaria, Chancellor, UP Open University (UPOU); Mrs. Marita T. Llamas, Mayor, Mauban, Quezon; Mr. Frank Thiel, Managing Director, Quezon Power (Philippines) Ltd Co./San Buenaventura Power Limited; Dr. Merthel Evardome, Schools Division Superintendent, Department of Education- Quezon; and Dr. Felix Librero, President, UPOU Foundation, Inc., signed the agreement on 27 August 2019 at the CCDL Auditorium, UP Open University, Los Baños, Laguna.

Chancellor Bandalaria, who conceptualized the program in 2005, said that TDP aims to improve the quality of education in Mauban, Quezon by providing opportunities for public school teachers and government employees to pursue graduate studies in UPOU through scholarship grants. TDP scholars also undergo training program/s especially designed for their needs. Starting 2007, the second phase of the program implementation, technology grant was included, wherein each scholar is given a laptop computer plus monthly Internet allowance during the course of their study. Dr. Bandalaria, reminded the scholars that once they stop pursuing their studies, they need to return the technology grant.

For the 7th phase, TDP has a total of 15 scholars. They are Mechette Alcantara Alamag, Mary Doll Pasatiempo Gagasa, Ma. Loriejayne Valdez Ojenal, John Oliver Data Sombanon, Michael Detan Camacho, Jennifer Garcia Banagan, Merry Grace Collantes Dajao, Liza Manalastas Delen, Jieran Gendrano Del Rio, Danilo Taday Escalante Jr., Jessica Del Rio Garcia, Karen Encomienda Niogan, Debby Grace Constancia Tejada, Jonna Richelle Castro Allado, and Mary Grace Banal.

Since the program’s inception in 2005, it has awarded 191 scholarship grants, of which 108 had already graduated. (LGelisan and RVerena)
