The University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing (UPM CN) and the University of the Philippines Open University Faculty of Management and Development Studies (UPOU FMDS) successfully concluded a two-day final workshop on 13-14 August 2024, as they gear up for the launch of the Master in Nursing Education (MNE) program.

Held in the Conference Room of the College of Nursing from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the workshop aimed to finalize course materials, strategize effective teaching methodologies, and develop a comprehensive evaluation plan for the program.

Asst. Prof. Ria Valerie D. Cabanes, Program Chair of the Master of Arts in Nursing at UPOU FMDS, welcomed the participants and outlined the workshop’s objectives.

Subsequently, Prof. Arnold B. Peralta, Head of the Teaching Program at UPM CN, led discussions on strategic planning for the MNE courses, which will include a practicum component at UP Manila.

Key outcomes of the workshop include finalization of course packs for all MNE courses, development of effective teaching strategies tailored to the MNE program, and creation of a detailed evaluation plan to assess the program’s impact.

The successful completion of this workshop marks a significant milestone in the establishment of the MNE program, which is expected to produce highly qualified nurse educators to address the growing demands of the healthcare industry.

In line with the launch of the MNE program, UPOU FMDS will offer microcredential courses starting this September. To support aspiring nurse educators, the Commission on Higher Education will be providing scholarships for the entire microcredential package.

The event is in support of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3: Good Health and Well-Being, 4: Quality Education, and 17: Partnership for the Goals.
