UP VINTA Program Sets Sail in Bangkok, Thailand

The University of the Philippines (UP) proudly launched the University of the Philippines – Ventures for Innovative Transnational Academia (UP Vinta) Project, a flagship initiative that aims to make higher-quality education borderless, on 18 May 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Marking a significant departure from traditional education frameworks, UP VINTA adopts an innovative and inclusive approach to learning. It opens doors to a world of knowledge without boundaries, breaking free from the confines of geographical limitations. This pioneering program is designed not only for Filipino learners seeking education abroad but also for those within the Philippines, regardless of their location.

With the project’s launch in Thailand, the event began with welcoming remarks from Engr. Daniel Peckley, Vice President for Development. Following this, Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), delivered an insightful speech about the UP VINTA program and how said program contributes to the ten-point agenda of the UP System. Atty. Abraham Rey Acosta, Vice President for Legal Affairs, then addressed the attendees, sharing his perspectives and extending his support for the initiative.

The event continued with a distinguished message from the esteemed Philippine Ambassador, H.E. Millicent Cruz Paredes, who highlighted the significance of the project in fostering international collaboration and development. Chancellor Bandalaria then led an engaging open forum, encouraging dialogue and feedback from the participants. To conclude the event, Chancellor Bandalaria delivered a final message, emphasizing the goals of the project and the collaborative spirit driving its success.

The UP VINTA in Thailand is the second (2nd) launch for this project that signified a bold step towards borderless education. With insightful speeches and engaging discussions, the event underscored UP’s commitment to inclusive, accessible learning and global connectivity.
