A Memorandum of Agreement signing was held between the University of the Philippines Open University (represented by Chancellor Melinda dP. Bandalaria) and its partners (represented by Dr. Koji Nakamura of United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability) at the Office of the Chancellor Conference Room at 2 in the afternoon last 19 May 2017.

This agreement is the second phase of the project Human Resources Development Program for the Sustainable Development of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) Designated Site – Ifugao Rice Terraces (IRT) – a project between UP Open University (UPOU), Ifugao State University (IFSU), Ifugao GIAHS Support Committee and Provincial Government of Ifugao funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The project will launch its second phase this coming 28 June 2017 at Ifugao State University, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao.
