Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), was one of the speakers at the 2020 Global Massive Open Online Conference (MOOC) Conference held on 9-11 December 2020. The conference was organized by Tsinghua University (China) and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) with the theme “Learning Revolution and Higher Education Transformation.”

Chancellor Bandalaria spoke as part of Forum 3 which focused on the resource sharing for MOOCs and Global Higher Education Cooperation. She shared the experience of the Philippines in terms of the challenges and practices of MOOCs resource development and sharing. 

The Global MOOCs Conference aims to bring together high-profile officials, world-leading universities and renowned online education platforms across all geographical regions at this unprecedented time. The conference was held in response to global educational challenges and opportunities rendered by the age of the internet, virtual interconnectivity, and most recently the global pandemic.
