UPOU Chancellor to Speak at CVSU webinar on Pedagogy and Course Materials Development

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria, will be speaking for the Webinar on Pedagogy and Course Development organized by the Cavite State University (CVSU). This webinar will be held on 25 to 26 June 2020. 

Dr. Bandalaria’s topic will be about “Teaching and Learning in Distance eLearning Mode of Instruction.” The webinar will be done via Cisco Webex at 9:00 to 10:30 AM on both days. 

This webinar by CVSU  is part of the capacity-building project of the university on course design and delivery for flexible learning arrangement for its faculty members. It is aimed at capacitating CVSU faculty members for the “new normal” in the teaching and learning process. 

UPOU’s engagement in these kinds of transitioning to the new normal is part of the university’s public service, and the fulfillment of its mandate to assist relevant national agencies, higher education institutions, and technical and vocational institutions in developing their distance education programs through training, technical assistance, research and other academic programs. Dr. Bandalaria’s engagement is part of UPOU’s #OPENFight against the COVID-19 pandemic and help educational institutions transition to flexible learning.

Strengthen disaster readiness!DRR-CCAM Committee Meets to Strengthen University ReadinessChancellor Joane Serrano led the meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction–Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (DRR-CCAM), which focused on providing updates and facilitating the turnover to the new committee leadership. The discussion highlighted the urgency of strengthening the University’s earthquake response, including implementing new protocols, warning systems, and a comprehensive crisis communication plan. Incident Commanders were designated, and a proposal was raised to convert the former QA Office at the UPOU Main Building into a clinic to enhance medical readiness.
