UPOU-FICS-Appoints-New-Program-Chairs-1

The University of the Philippines Open University Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (UPOU FICS) proudly announces the appointment of new program chairs for the Diploma in Computer Science (DCS), Master of Information Systems (MIS), and the Master of Development Communication (MDC) Programs.

Assoc. Prof. Myra Almodiel was appointed the new Program Chair of the Master of Development Communication (MDC) Program, effective 02 January 2025. She is the current Director of the UPOU Office of Public Affairs (OPA). She holds a Doctor of Communication (DComm) degree from UPOU, a Master of Science in Development Communication from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from UPLB. She succeeds Dr. Benjamina Paula G. Flor, whose leadership as Program Chair until December 2024 significantly contributed to the success of MDC students and graduates.

Assoc. Prof. Ria Mae Borromeo has been named the new Program Chair of the Master of Information Systems (MIS) Program. She is the current Director of the UPOU Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UPLB, as well as a Master’s and PhD degree in Engineering from Keio University, Japan.

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Blancaflor Arada has been appointed the new Program Chair of the Diploma in Computer Science (DCS) Program. She earned her Bachelor’s in Computer Science degree from the University of the Philippines Baguio and completed her Master’s in Information Systems at UPOU.
