The UPOU Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (UPOU OVCAA), in its aim to align its quality management  initiatives with that of the UP system, spearheaded the UPOU Quality Assurance (QA) Orientation on 15 August 2022. This activity aimed to provide an overview of UPOU’s QA initiatives in line with the context of the UP System, and orient the participants for the relaunch of the Quality Assurance through Self-Assessment Report (QASAR) writeshop.

Dr. Primo G. Garcia, UPOU Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, discussed the rationale for enhancing the QA program in the University and provided an overview of UP’s QA framework, QA  initiatives at the UP System and UPOU levels, the timetable for the deliverables, and the details of the QASAR writeshop. Dr. Garcia also responded to questions on the QA initiatives from the participants.

One of the highlights of the orientation is the QASAR online writeshop which has been designed to assist the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) Writing Teams in completing their reports based on the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) framework (Version 4.0). The orientation also included details on course mechanics, target outcomes, session schedule, and other writeshop requirements. A total of 63 participants engaged in the activity, including officers of the QA team, regular faculty members, deans, program chairs, program support staff, and SAR Writing Team members. They all shared their ideas and clarified their questions during the breakout sessions.

As part of the QASAR Writeshop, the UPOU QA Committee will conduct weekly synchronous sessions for the SAR Writers from 15 August 2022 to15 October 2022 and a UPOU iAADS+ Portal Walkthrough on 22 August 2022.

A digital lantern that shines with hope this Christmas seasonAs we welcome the Christmas season, we look back at the digital lantern created last year by UPOU students Myne Zamora and Rhod Ezekiel DS Vallo. Their work included a short film, an Instagram filter, and the parody itself. Today, we are highlighting just the video, which reveals the lantern at the end.Inspired by stained glass windows, the lantern's vibrant colors and shifting patterns symbolize the resilience of Filipino communities. Their work was recognized at the “Culture Kaleidoscope: Celebrating Cultural Diversity in Lanterns", organized by UPOU and the President’s Committee for Culture and the Arts (PCCA).To see their work in full, you may visit: sites.google.com/up.edu.ph/kungtala/tala #ChristmasSeason2025 #HolidayInspiration #UPOU #DigitalArt ...
