The newly appointed 2025 Quality Assurance Office (QAO) team, led by QAO Director, Asst. Prof. Ria Valerie D. Cabanes

In line with the university’s administrative transition this year, the Quality Assurance Office (QAO) proudly introduces its new team members, all committed to upholding the institution’s standards of excellence. With the recent appointment of the new Chancellor Joane V. Serrano, PhD, a fresh vision for continuous improvement and strategic development is being set into motion, with Asst. Prof. Ria Valerie D. Cabanes, serving as the director of QAO.

The QAO team will continue to strengthen its role in ensuring that academic programs, administrative services, and institutional processes adhere to the highest standards. Strategic goals for 2025 include the implementation of a more comprehensive internal quality information system, increased staff development opportunities, and enhanced collaboration with various units and offices across the university.

The entire QAO team expresses their gratitude for the trust given by the administration and looks forward to working closely with all stakeholders to sustain a culture of quality, sustainability, and innovation.

MOU Ceremonial Signing between UPOU, MECO, and UPAAOn 27 November 2025, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) held a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA). The signing was held at the MECO Manila Office in Makati City.The event was graced by the presence of delegates from UPOU: Dr. Roberto Figueroa, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies; Dr. Charisse Reyes, Dean of the Faculty of Education; and Asst.
