The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) successfully concluded its two-day strategic planning session held on 22-23 April 2025 at the UPOU Oblation Hall. The activity brought together members of the Quality Assurance Committee and QA staff to reflect on past efforts, realign priorities, and map out strategic directions for UPOU’s quality assurance initiatives moving forward.

The planning session focused on enhancing QAO’s strategic direction in support of the university’s vision, mission, and goals (VMGs), aligned with UPOU’s thrust to be the Transformative University of the Future. Discussions centered on strengthening both internal and external quality assurance processes—encompassing academic and administrative operations, as well as data collection and management systems, among other key areas.

Over the course of the two days, participants engaged in a comprehensive review of the office’s performance, conducted SWOT analyses, and collaborated through team workshops to formulate actionable strategies. The session also served as a venue for gathering feedback on the centralized institutional system currently under development, which will play a crucial role in enhancing QAO’s data collection and management functions.

This strategic planning session marks a significant step in QAO’s proactive efforts to institutionalize quality assurance across all levels of UPOU operations. It reflects a strong commitment to embedding and sustaining quality as a shared responsibility—ensuring a culture of holistic and continuous improvement, with the support and engagement of all university stakeholders.
