The University of the Philippines Open University, through its Quality Assurance Office, conducted the Pre-External Quality Review (EQR) Writeshops for programs preparing for the upcoming External Quality Review in September 2026.

The writeshops aimed to assist participating programs in refining their Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) and organizing the supporting documents and evidence required for the EQR process. These activities serve as an important preparatory stage to ensure that the programs meet institutional quality standards and are well-prepared for evaluation.

The Master of International Health (MIH) Program successfully completed its writeshop on 14 May 2026, followed by the Diploma in Research and Development Management (DR&DM) Program, which completed its writeshop on 22 June 2026.

The MIH SAR Writing Teams, and the QAO Director, together with the QA Project Staff, attended the Pre-EQR Writeshop 2026 via Zoom Meeting.

Throughout the writeshops, the QAO team provided guidance on improving report organization, strengthening evidence presentation, and addressing common documentation concerns encountered in previous EQR cycles. The activity also encouraged collaboration among program teams through discussions, consultations, and the sharing of practical approaches in quality assurance and report preparation.

The QAO likewise recognized the strong commitment and proactive efforts demonstrated by both the Master of International Health (MIH) and Diploma in Research and Development Management (DR&DM) programs in preparing for the review. The office acknowledged the contributions of the MIH Program Chair, Prof. Myra Oruga, together with Assistant Writers Asst. Prof. Edric Estrella and Ms. Janele Ann Belegal. It also recognized the DR&DM Program Chair, Asst. Prof. Leo Mendel D. Rosario, along with Assistant Writers Prof. Primo G. Garcia and Dr. Jaine Reyes, for their dedication and collaborative efforts throughout the writeshop.

The successful completion of the Pre-EQR Writeshops reflects UPOU’s continued commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement. Through the collaborative efforts of the QAO and the participating program teams, the MIH and DR&DM programs are now better prepared for the upcoming External Quality Review.
