UPOU’s Finance and Administration Information System (FAIS) Experiences Shared with UP Los Banos Finance Team

The University of the Philippines Open University Finance team shared their experiences with the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) Finance Team on UPOU’s Finance and Administration Information System (FAIS) and other internal databases on 30 January 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room, UPOU Headquarters.

The UPOU team provided an overview of its operating processes, covering the creation of Disbursement Vouchers (DVs) by the Unit and the processing of the DVs by the Budget and Accounting Offices, the Cash Office’s payment procedures, and the Accounting Office’s financial reporting and bookkeeping.

The session was attended by the UPOU Finance team composed of Mr. John Benvers A. Malabanan, Chief Accountant with Ms. Rosemarie G. Aquino, Mr. Raymond A. Lapis, Mr. Russell Abanilla, Mr. Michael P. Lagaya, Acting Chief AO, Cash Office with Ms. Filipina G. Bautista-Pullian and Mr. Gerald Anthony L. Evangelista, Ms. Era Winzelle D. Cruz, representing the Chief AO of the Budget Office, Ms. Amalia G. Perez. Ms. Ela Giselle W. Abao, Administrative Officer of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, was also invited to present the DV creation.  The UPLB Finance Team is composed of the UPLB Chiefs of Offices and their staff: Mr. John Reymark Garcia, Ms. Marie Claire Raymundo, Ms. Elizabeth Eala, and Ms. Joan Mendoza, Chief of Budget Office, Accounting Office, Cash Office, and Internal Control Office, respectively.

The presentation highlights the FAIS’s capabilities and features, which were designed to streamline the financial processes, improve transparency, and enhance overall efficiency in managing the University’s financial resources.   It also demonstrates UPOU’s commitment in enhancing the financial management practices of the University through technology and streamlined processes. It emphasizes the importance of digital solutions in modernizing the financial operations of the University.
