The University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the Student Regent (OSR) in coordination with the UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Student Affairs (OSA) hosted the virtual Student Summit 2021 with the theme #SulongUP: UP Fight Back. It was held on 14 April 2021 via Zoom. The purpose of the summit was to cater to the concerns of the students in this time of disruption.  UP and UPOU officials were present in the program. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) participated in the  Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Congress 2021 on  28 to 29 April 2021 as one of the supporting partners. The theme of the congress was “Transforming Southeast Asian Education, Science and Culture in the Digital Age.” As supporting partner, Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria served as one of the speakers in the congress. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) continues to serve its students and staff through knowledge sharing and inclusive learning. One of its initiatives is the FICS MeetUPs facilitated by the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS). On 20 April  2021, the second session of the FICS MeetUPs for this year was held online via Zoom. Earthdayinitiative.org, together with March for Science NYC, organized the grand Earth Day 2021 Virtual Stage and Festival to kick off the Earth Week 2021 which is celebrated every 22 April of each year.
