One of the Emerging Interdisciplinary Research (EIDR) Projects of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) Master of Arts in Nursing program, namely Development of a Web-based Related Learning Experience (RLE) Design as a Resource Activity Material, was presented at The World Learning Labs Symposium 2023.

The hybrid event was hosted in Kyoto, Japan on 27-28 January 2023 to facilitate meaningful discussions on real-world case studies and examples from various countries regarding post-pandemic learning environments and programs. The team was led by Asst. Prof. Queenie Ridulme.

The team, represented by Ms. Allysa Mae Gargarino and Ms. Jammille Delos Reyes presented the needs assessment conducted during the transition to online learning at the symposium. They discussed the process of developing the web-based RLE, which included developing case scenarios for the script and video shoots, as well as developing the online platform. The team emphasized the advantages of using the web-based RLE design, emphasizing how it improves nursing students’ learning experiences. In addition, the team discussed future plans for the RLE system, which included expanding it to other nursing courses and incorporating artificial intelligence to improve the learning experience.

The development of a web-based RLE for nursing students is a remarkable contribution to the field of online education, as it provides an innovative alternative to traditional clinical learning experiences. The EIDR-RLE team’s study presented at the symposium highlights the dedication of researchers to advance nursing education and address the educational gap caused by pandemic. During its final phase, the project will be presented to other courses that require on-site training, including non-medical courses.
