UPOU Faculty of Education Affiliate Professor conferred NRCP Achievement Award

Dr. Maria Ana T. Quimbo, an affiliate professor and former Program Chair of the Doctor of Philosophy in Education program of the UPOU Faculty of Education, is among the eight 2023 National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Achievement Awardees recognized during the 91st General Membership Assembly held on 12 March 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City. She has been conferred this award by the NRCP, an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology, for her outstanding contributions in the field of social sciences.

Her extensive research activities centered mainly on evaluation studies in the areas of education policy and practice, curriculum studies, learning analytics, e-learning, distance and community education, communities in transition, and community development have garnered her local and international awards and recognitions.

Dr. Quimbo is also currently appointed as UP Scientist II under the UP System Scientific and Productivity System (SPS) and was a recipient of the 2022-2024 One UP Professorial Chair Award for Outstanding Teaching and Research in Educational Research and Evaluation.

Strengthen disaster readiness!DRR-CCAM Committee Meets to Strengthen University ReadinessChancellor Joane Serrano led the meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction–Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (DRR-CCAM), which focused on providing updates and facilitating the turnover to the new committee leadership. The discussion highlighted the urgency of strengthening the University’s earthquake response, including implementing new protocols, warning systems, and a comprehensive crisis communication plan. Incident Commanders were designated, and a proposal was raised to convert the former QA Office at the UPOU Main Building into a clinic to enhance medical readiness.
